UX Design | UI Design
A full website refresh for Charles Tyrwhitt, a luxury men’s clothing retailer specialising in dress shirts. I was the lead UI on the project and was part of the UX team on some of the core journey elements.
THE CHALLENGE
This is a huge brand with a wide reputation, and a massive amount of products. On top of that, they regularly hold sales and offers, and wanted a modern and exciting design to match their competitors. They also wanted a new product archive layout to showcase their featured items, and to show off their new playful imagery. There were a lot of boxes to tick in this design.
THE RESPONSE
I implemented a sleek, modern, and exciting design which had room for all of their needs. From a dynamic way to feature deals, to presenting their huge range of products, to pushing new season lineups as the client needed.
I also redesigned their mega-menu to include a lot more imagery, keeping their products centre stage and guiding the user journey visually.
THE THOUGHT BEHIND: THE MULTI-BUY FEATURE
One of the biggest challenges in this design was Charles Tyrwhitt’s “Multi-Buy” feature. Essentially, if a user added a shirt to their basket for example, they could then add 3 more to create a unique deal. The client wanted half-made deals to stay with the user the whole time they were on the site, which was tricky given the huge range of products that could be Multi-Buy.
I designed an elegant UI that stuck with the user and allowed them to see how many more products they needed to qualify for each deal. This was then emphasised at certain pages, like the basket, to try and urge the user to add just a couple more products and qualify for a great saving. It ended up being a graceful, high-conversion solution that fit perfectly with the brand’s luxury feel.
CONCLUSION
Overall, this was a huge project with a big team behind it. I was immensely proud to design the UI & contribute to what ended up being an incredibly classy and premium digital space. Watch the video below to see how I added small bits of movement to the site.
